Produced with the intention of providing an introduction to the great playwright's works for children, Mary and Charles Lamb's Tales of Shakespeare contains twenty of Shakespeare's best known comedies and tragedies presented in narrative form for the young reader. One of 750 copies produced and signed by Arthur Rackham, this is number 306.
Quarto, original cream buckram with gilt titles and tooling to the spine and front panel, gilt pictorial endpapers, top edge gilt with others uncut, ribbon ties, 12 tipped-in color plates by Rackham including frontispiece and the additional “Puck” plate facing page 16 which only appears in this edition.
